Cutting Agency is a dance-funk band from Washington, DC with a darker sound than the EDM that has infiltrated the airwaves in recent years.. As is the tradition for many bands inspired by jazz and the jam scenes, their specialty is creating and maintaining a party. They perform pre-written and arranged songs, but excel at improvised instrumental solos over pre-existing chord structures, perhaps going into and out of other songs to create medleys or just to tease the audience to keep us on our toes.....literally. (They keep their crowds up and dancing.) Because of this constant on-the-spot improvisation, no two shows are alike. Each live show experience is unique and cannot be relived, so if you want to experience the euphoria they evoke and exude, you will have to come see them again. And again. And again. Originally the brainchild of Sean Dunnevant, Cutting Agency has emerged as a new pulsating rhythm in the Washington, DC music scene. Focusing on dance beats and dark chords, the group tries to bring the transitions and non-stop groove of a DJ to life as a five-piece live band with no looping whatsoever. The group consists of Sean Dunnevant (bass/ vocals), Miles Lieder (drums), Peter Beiser (keys/vocals), Mikey Candela (guitar/vocals), and Dave Klein (sax/vocals).

Although Cutting Agency is relatively new to the music scene, the members of the group all share an impressive resume; sharing the stage with Papadosio, Lettuce, Kyle Hollingsworth, Ramsey Lewis, Magic! and many more. The guys have also played many world-renowned venues including the 930 Club, Kennedy Center, Arlene's Grocery, and many more throughout the United States.
