Big Hoax (Dreamy Folk Pop for fans of Ray LaMontagne)

Big Hoax is an up and coming alternative folk band based out of Baltimore, MD lead by singer/songwriter Luke Alexander. It consists of Luke Alexander (lead vocals/guitar), Stephen Filer (strings/vocals), Peter Krutschnitt (drums/vocals), and other various, skilled contributing artists. Formed in  February 2012, Big Hoax has been taking the regional music scenes by storm. From upstate New York to Nashville, TN, Big Hoax has played over 120 shows in 2014, including shows sharing the bill with many notable, nationally-touring artists like The Last Bison, Donna The Buffalo, Megan Jean and the KFB, Jimmy Haha of Jimmy’s Chicken Shack, Strung Like A Horse, The Streets of Laredo, SwampCandy, Bumpin Uglies, and more. The secret behind their sound being Alexander’s rhythmic, honest songwriting.

In a Q&A from FrederickPlaylist.com, Luke explained: “I write a lot of music that sends a message-I preach to myself in my lyrics quite often. People hear these messages and it creates community...It fires people up, especially when performed live.”

Big Hoax has currently released a debut EP “Open.”, mastered by distinguished recording engineer Frank Marchand of Hudson Street Sound. Big Hoax is in the works of recording its first full length album, which is anticipated for release in Spring 2015.

Big Hoax is known for its big live sound, dance-y alt-folk ballads, and ability to turn a room full of strangers into a space full of friends that simply haven’t met yet.
