Allison Chang has been performing in the Frederick/DC/NYC area since 2009. A classical musician by training, she began her banjo journey in Manhattan under Mike Savino of Tall Tall Trees, absorbing the eclectic influences The City had to offer. Her distinctive style blends traditional and modern folk, blues, rock, and world music, bringing the past into the present. Allison employs a motley crew of instruments: banjo, guitar, and mandolin, with occasional sprinkling in of accordion and harp. Her voice has been described as "haunting" and "not what I expected", and in her collaborative projects, she strives for modal and unconventional harmonies.
