Woodhead (Experimental Rock)

Born of the rich tradition of NYC art-rock bands, "Woodhead" formed in 2012 when composer, singer and guitarist Vern Woodhead met drummer Rob Mitzner. He had long been searching for a drummer who was groovy, yet powerful and rambunctious enough to bring drive and emotion to his compositions. The lineup was complete when longtime collaborator Yana Davydova added her distinctive ethereal guitar sound, and bassist Dmitry Ishenko brought avant-garde chops combined with an impeccable groove.

The band recently completed work on its second full length album, 'El Inmortal', and will be embarking on a promotional tour of the US this spring.   Over the past 4 years, Woodhead has performed at some of New York's finest venues, including The Mercury Lounge, The Knitting Factory, and the Players Theater; they have also done tours of the East and West Coasts, and played to a packed house in bandleader Woodhead's boyhood home of Tecate, Mexico.

“Woodhead spins a web of intense, classical vocals... Yana Davydova fingers the fretboard of her electric guitar with remarkable fluency...”   --CultureCatch
