A self-described blues rock band, The Dirty Middle performs original music as well as covers ranging from Junior Wells to Alabama Shakes and the Grateful Dead. Started in a bar four years ago as an acoustic act, the gang needed that something extra to really kick the music into gear thus adding bass and drums. The band’s name is an original socioeconomic play on words. Think of everything in our lives as a bell-curve — pretty poor on one side and pretty rich on one side — hardworking on both sides. But they’re right in the dirty middle, not doing too great and not doing too bad. Kind of just Average Joes every day that are getting things done.  This blurb from Subversive Zine out of Frederick MD truly says it all: Blues and Americana mesh with a certain edginess. It’s roots rock without limits or stiffness from too much structure.
